Our Specialty
Factory style planning and recorded classes
Other organizations have many students per mentor. As such, their mentors use recorded lectures and a one-size-fits-all approach towards their students. This does not take into account that each student has a different learning style, learning speed, interests, and goals. The result is students feel that they’re unable to retain the information they learn.
VS
Individualized planning and one-one-one classes
Each of our students have around 15-20 mentors, from a lead mentor to a behavioural mentor to a technical mentor and more. All of our long-term career plans are developed after understanding the student’s goals. Our curriculumn is standardized, but our teaching style is individualized to meet each student’s needs. This is why our students go from knowing nothing about finance/consulting to being excellent candidates and landing offers in just 3 months.
Non-compliant shortcuts
Many organizations will sell shortcuts, such as paid internships or guaranteed referrals, to vulnerable students who are stressed out. However, internships that you have to buy will never pass a background check, because no legitimate company will sell its internships. As well, guaranteed referrals is not compliant with the SEC, and will similarly result in your application being blacklisted.
VS
Developing our students abilities and nuturing their confidence
At OSG, we firmly believe that every student has what it takes to succeed, and we know we have the resources and skills to make it happen. Therefore, we never rely on shortcuts. Instead, we teach our students every step of the way on how to get a legitimate referral and legitimate internships, from cold emailing, to networking, to interviewing.
Weak Mentor Network
Many organizations have mentors who have long since retired from these industries or have no legitimate full time experience working at top companies in finance/consulting. Why is it important to have mentors who are currently working and have experience? This is because there is a lot of information asymmetry, and mentors who are not currently employed are often not caught up with relevant information. Full time experience is also important because only those who have worked in the industry for a few years will be able to offer students valuable insights.
VS
Robust and Experienced Mentor Network
OSG has over 500 mentors who all have at least 2-3 years of full time experience and are currently working in front office roles at top firms. This makes a difference. Our mentors are able to provide valuable industry insights that students cannot find online. They are also able to provide the most up to date information on recruiting timelines and requirements of different geographies, office, and roles.
